Thomas Zinn

Technology is freedom.
Twenty-five years in, I still believe it.

Technology was the way out. Twenty-five years later I build companies, share what I know, and try to make the path a little clearer for anyone coming up behind me.

What I believe

Freedom is foundational.

Economic, creative, political. Not a talking point. The condition everything else depends on.

Community is how change happens.

Not top-down, not algorithmic. Locally, organically, between people who actually know each other.

Simple beats clever.

Most systems fail because they got complicated before they got clear. I have little patience for complexity that exists to impress rather than work.

How I think

I find the structure under things. Whether it's a broken process or the electromagnetic spectrum, the move is the same: take what looks like many separate problems and find the one system underneath.

Lately I've been writing that down as frameworks. The essays are the invitation; the rigorous backing, with every claim tagged for what it is, lives in the Library.
